From 2021, Fotis is Executive Vice President Capgemini, working at global level with leading Industry Verticals, Communications Service Providers and State Authorities supporting their innovation and digital transformation journey. Using the power of the technology ecosystem and advanced connectivity Fotis brings together a wealth of telco skills, system integration capabilities & assets of Capgemini and best global partners to create groundbreaking solutions and cutting-edge use cases at scale for Telecommunications and industry clients.

 

Fotis Karonis was previously the CTIO of EE the largest and best UK’s mobile operator (28million subscribers), part of the BT group and, driving the delivery of first 5G Network in the UK, amongst first global launches in May 2019, while equally leading the IT of BT group. Fotis also lead the delivery of the Emergency Services Network (ESN) in 2020 for the UK,  based on the EE 4G Mobile Network (Tetra to boradband  for the Met Police, FireBrigade Healthcare first responders). 

As CTIO for BT Enterprise he equally worked with Industries and 5G PNs to drive digital transformation in sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare and ports.

From 2010 as CTIO he led EE to be the first to launch 4G in the UK, following the merger of the operators Orange and T-Mobile UK. 

From 2007 -2010 Fotis was the CIO of Romtelecom part of OTE group and worked on the successful merger of DT with OTE.

From 1997 –2007 Fotis was the Director of IT&Telecoms for the ‘green field‘ New Athens International Airport.

Fotis was awarded Mobile Europe’s CTO of the Year award in 2015 and IT Manager of the Year for Greece, 2002. 

 

Fotis is an Electrical Engineer graduate of the University of Patras Greece, and has an MSc from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK.
